Weekly Meals and Workouts 12/22

Hey there!

After a couple weeks off from blogging to finish up my third semester of grad school, I am more than ready to get back to it! Now that I’m on break from school and the holidays are here, I can finally relax a bit.

Yesterday was our annual¬†family fish dinner (check out last year’s if you’re wondering how we carry on the Italian tradition!). This year we hosted it at our house :)

IMG_1183 IMG_1123It was a ton of fun (as always) and it had been SO nice to spend some quality time with my family. We are all so close, I love it!

I’ll be back later in the week with a mini holiday recap. For now, let’s get to the weekly plan (yes, I even plan during the holiday season ;) )

Meal Plan

Since our big feast was yesterday and we have another family dinner party on Wednesday, there will be a lot of leftovers to use up this week! Also, the beginning of the week consists of a few holiday dinners out; therefore, the end of the week will consist of lighter fare .. and maybe a brownie or two … it’s all about balance ;)

Sunday: Leftovers
Monday: Out to dinner with friends
Tuesday: Christmas eve at one of our favorite restaurants – D’Oro
Wednesday: Merry Christmas!
Thursday: Large salads with roasted salmon, sweet potatoes, and veggies (whatever is leftover)
Friday: Grilled chicken with butternut squash and kale salad
Saturday: Brinner

Prep Ahead
- Make quinoa for lunches (done)
- Chop veggies (tomorrow)
- Grill up chicken for lunches (Tuesday since we have lots of fish to eat up!)

Since over sleeping on Saturday (frustrating!) and my planned rest day today, I am MORE than ready to get back into my usual routine. I’m ITCHING to run and get stronger ;)

Monday: 6 miles speed work, upper body strength workout with a friend
Tuesday: 40 minutes elliptical/bike, strength workout with Jess
Wednesday: 6 miles hill run, 15 minutes core work and LOTS of stretching
Thursday: Teaching spin, strength workout (legs)
Friday: Yoga, dance practice
Saturday: 9 miles
Sunday: OFF

I’m SO excited for this week to begin. I’m off from work for the holidays, school is over for a month, and I finally have a chance to organize my life and tidy things up .. like my room … :)

Then there’s the extra time spent with family and friends relaxing and enjoying one another’s company – it truly is the most wonderful time of the year :)

I hope you all had a fabulous and enjoyable weekend!

1. Any one who celebrates have any fun events this weekend? I’d love to hear about them!

2. Do you oversleep/sleep through alarms often? Do you panic or just go with it?
I never sleep through alarms, but slept through 4 of them this Saturday .. FOUR! .. I panicked at first, but realized my body was probably trying to tell me something, so I just went with it – needless to say I’m ready for my workout tomorrow ;)

  1. I haven’t used an alarm in about 6 years. I just get up. Baffles the family :)

We arrived at my in-laws house yesterday and I’ve yet to hear about plans for the week. How many activities and people can we squeeze into one week will probably be the topic of conversation at breakfast this morning.

Enjoy your time off from school!

Happy holidays Lindsay. To you and your family.

  2. Good for you for menu planning this week! We’re traveling and just gave up… we’ll eat whatever is available, but both of our parents are good at having healthy options around!
